All hail Worf!

Run, girlie, run!

Another recent illustration from an early-readers book I illustrated for Van In uitgeverij

Sophia and Fiona- my darlings!

My friend -and upcoming collaborator- Salgood Sam -or Max, as I'm allowed to call him- suggested i should draw my kids because you love that kind of stuff and I don't want to upset Max because he's a Canadian.
Little did he know that I already am drawing my kids, see:

this was the birth card I drew a little over 3 months ago when Sophia came into our world. Fiona's 2 and 3 months now and both are my precious darlings. So of course I'll use their name and likeness and make them into comicbook heroes!
fiona was first:

Sophia will be next...

How about some illustrations?

sure, why not?

I actually started out as a childrens bookillustrator, way back ik 1999 (sheesh! I sound old saying that!).
Won an award too!
Since then I've published about 20 or so different books, many of which I wrote myself.
Then I found some succes as a comicbook creator and my career veered of in that direction. So, when one of my illustrations publishers asked me to illustrate a couple of first readers books, I jumped at the opportunity.
Not long before that I went to a daylong digital illustration seminar where J. Otto Seibold was the keynote speaker, I decided to follow in his artistic footsteps.

Wendy de Winkeldochter.

Pasen in oktober? Ja, "bare with me"

Texas Strangers!

Last year I was extremely honoured that Image Comics published 2 issues of Texas Strangers, an intended monthly ongoing all-ages comics series written by Antony Johnston and Dan Evans III.

Our outline spanned 24 issues, comprising of 12 stories that detailed the quest of the twins Wyatt and Madara to return a magical knife back to their parent's homestead in Texas. It was a world where magic exists, where elfs roam the plains and Orcs are bullies. And the French were the bad guys.
Sadly, due to lacking sales and income I wasn't able to commit my time to it anymore and we had to put the series on hiatus.
But it's not dead!
We still believe in this project if it can be put into the hands of kids and libraries. So one of my early newyears resolutions is to resurrect this series even if I have to redraw it entirely!

Catanova, Or What's The Deal With That Header Anyway?

Being a freelance artist means one has to throw alot of stuff against a wall to see what will stick. this is one onf them that seems to be sticking.

Catanova is -pun intended- a graphic novel about the occult life of Casanova as a furrie.
Like most good ideas (he said with fingers crossed) this one came in a flash when the name popped into my head. It was a good name and one that sums up the premise in one go. The text is in Dutch because this is a project I conceived for the Belgian market at first.
So, this one is for my Belgian audience:

Deze pagina maakt deel uit van een kortverhaal dat in één van de komende nummers van Stripgids zal verschijnen. Het verhaal is geschreven door Pieter van Oudheusden en is eigenlijk een herwerking van het eerste script dat hij voor me geschreven heeft, nu toch al 10 jaar geleden.

Star Trek- The last generation color art

One of my jobs is as a comicbook colorist.

For IDW I've been coloring their latest miniseries called Star Trek- the Last Generation. It's an alternative story which has the premise of "what if the Klingons won the war and occupied Earth?"
I can't show much but how about a page featuring Jean-Luc Picard as the fearless resistance leader?

finally, I'm back!
